Spring is here, and it’s that time where Spring cleaning always comes to mind. It can feel overwhelming, and if you don’t know where to start, we’re here to help!
Check out the Meyers’ family Spring Cleaning Checklist, which helps provide you with some of the basics to get your home’s special Spring treatment started this month. Take a look at the list below, and if you’d like you can download and print your own list too!
☐ Wipe your walls and ceilings – Use a vacuum to remove dust, and tackle any grime with a solvent-free degreaser (Make sure to test on a small, hidden area first!)
☐ Reseal your grout lines – Grout can stain easily, so make sure you’re protecting it with a grout sealer.
☐ Vacuum and shampoo your rugs – You can deep clean synthetic carpets and rugs with waterproof backings with a rotary shampoo machine and hot-water extraction machine. Rugs without backings, such as Oriental rugs, need to be professionally cleaned.
☐ Dust books and shelves – Remove everything from your shelves, and brush them off with a feather duster. Use the dust brush or crevice tool on your vacuum to reach small spots. Wipe down the spines of your leather-bound books with a clean cloth.
☐ Clean your upholstered furniture – Before doing this, make sure you check your furniture care tags. You can remove your cushions, take them outside and beat them by hand to remove dust. And, use your vacuum’s upholstery and crevice tools to clean under seat cushions.
☐ Dust your home thoroughly – Tackle all of the hard-to-reach places, like ceiling fans and window casings. Work from the top of the room down, and finish by vacuuming the dust that falls on the floor.
☐ Ensure fire safety – Change your batteries in your smoke detectors, and make sure the units are free from dust. Teach everyone in your household how to use a fire extinguisher and review escape plans.
☐ Wash window screens – Remove each screen, and use warm water and a mild dishwashing liquid to scrub each screen. Rinse thoroughly.
☐ Clean window treatments – Check your drapes and curtains to see which ones are machine washable. Wipe wooden blinds down with a damp cloth.
