Back in October, the Meyers family made the trip to High Point Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina. This bi-annual trip is one of the many furniture markets we visit each year, to bring back the latest styles and designs to you!
One of the hottest trends we saw were details in furnishings – these details ranged from using unique metals as accents to the range of colors shining through on wood details to unique stitching details on sofas, chairs, and sectionals. It really is the little details that can make your furnishings unique to you!
Metals were everywhere at the High Point Furniture Market. They shine through in living room and dining room groupings with metal legs/feet on chairs, sofas, and seating, and range in finish from oil-rubbed bronze to black iron to shiny or matte steel.
Adding a touch of metal to the construction of furnishings adds a new texture, feel, and style, which can range of modern to more of a “Fixer Upper” style.
You’ll also see metals incorporated in smaller ways with the addition of nail head trims to so many styles of sofas, sectionals, and chairs. Nail heads are a great way to dress up your furniture or to add a traditional feel to a more modern line and design of a chair or sofa; they’re also a fantastic way to incorporate metals into the overall look of your room. Stop in to Meyers Furniture and see how this trending design detail can be incorporated into your home!
Over the last several years, we’ve seen wood finishes expand their range of tones, and 2017’s trends are no different. Instead of seeing more traditional darker brown and black tones, the tones incorporate more unique tones in the blues, greys, and reds. These new colors in wood tones help you add a little pop of color to your space, and trend right along with the new, cooler neutral palettes we saw in everything from sofas, sectionals, occasional tables, dining, bedding, and décor!
Stitching details were very popular in the showrooms at High Point, especially among leather seating and furnishings. Incorporating these stitching accents helps soften up the look of many furnishings and can add texture, tone, depth, and a small amount of detail without feeling overwhelming.
