This past week, we had the chance to take our semi-annual trip to High Point Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina, to see, shop, and explore the latest in design trends for the coming months. This Spring market didn’t disappoint, with some new trends, and some continued variations on trends we saw at the Fall 2016 market. We’ll be digging in to more of these over the next couple of months, but here’s a sneak peek at the trends we caught last week:
- The new neutrals are still in tact. The modern neutrals were still incredibly popular across seating, dining, bedroom, occasional tables and more. Cooler neutrals like greys and blues are still prominent like they were at the Fall market. Classic, earth tone neutrals such as tans and greens are still very much in style, but have these cooler colors to complement them.
- Lots of new wood furniture finishes. With the increasingly popularity of the “Fixer Upper” style, we saw so many nods to this farmhouse style with furniture finishes. There’s still traditional finishes, but we saw a lot more painted furniture in whites and greys, with some distressed touches.
- More space-saving dining sets. With living spaces changing with generations, and the trend towards more casual dining spaces, we saw that many of the showrooms were sharing smaller, more casual cafe tables for eat-in kitchens, and bar-height sets with stools that can be placed behind a sofa or sectional.
